Dhruv Rathee

A Delhi court has summoned Dhruv Rathee in a defamation lawsuit brought by a BJP spokesman.

The lawsuit claims that Dhruv Rathee posted a video titled "My Reply to Godi Youtubers | Elvish Yadav | Dhruv Rathee" to his YouTube account.

A Delhi court has summoned YouTuber Dhruv Rathee and others in relation to a defamation lawsuit that the BJP Mumbai unit's spokesman, Suresh Karamshi Nakhua, filed.

In response to a defamation lawsuit brought by Bhartiya Janata Party Mumbai unit leader Suresh Karamshi Nakhua for allegedly calling YouTuber Dhruv Rathee a violent and abusive troll, Saket Court of Delhi has summoned Rathee and others.

In an order dated July 19, 2024, District Judge Gunjan Gupta served Dhruv Rathee and social media intermediaries with a summons of action and notice of application under 39 Rule 1 and 2 CPC for August 6, 2024. Mukesh Sharma and advocate Raghav Awasthi represented the plaintiff in the case.

Dhruv Rathee posted a video on his YouTube account titled "My Reply to Godi Youtubers | Elvish Yadav | Dhruv Rathee" on July 7, 2024, according to the lawsuit. The aforementioned video has received almost 2.3 million likes and 2,41,85,609 views as of the date the captioned case was filed, and this number is growing every minute.

Dhruv Rathee allegedly said that Prime Minister Modi had entertained aggressive and abusive trolls like Ankit Jain, Suresh Nakhua, and Tajinder Bagga at his official house, according to plaintiff Suresh Karamshi Nakhua. The video in issue has amassed over 2.3 million likes and over 24 million views, and the figure is still rising steadily.

The lawsuit further claimed that since the Plaintiff is one of the Prime Minister's followers and that the Plaintiff is accused of having violent tendencies in the aforementioned video without any apparent reason, it is obvious that the video has the potential to damage the Plaintiff's reputation among the general public.

The plaintiff also claimed that Dhruv made audacious and unsupported allegations against the plaintiff in a very inflammatory and explosive video that went viral on digital media. The video's deceptive objective is concealed by its baseless implication that the Plaintiff is connected to abusive and violent troll activity.

Dhruv Rathee's disparaging remarks in the aforementioned video have seriously harmed the Plaintiff's reputation. According to the lawsuit, Dhruv Rathee's fraudulent charges have caused the Plaintiff to be widely criticized and mocked, seriously harming both his personal and professional lives.
