For the first couple decades of its existence, Nvidia's primary concentration was on creating semiconductors for video games.

However, in order to position the company to benefit from the rise of artificial intelligence, chief executive Jensen Huang ordered significant investments to be made in the development of GPUs for uses other than gaming during the 2000s.

With an estimated net worth of more than $117 billion, Huang is among the richest persons in the world as a result of the company's phenomenal development, according to Forbes.
